Curriculum & Resource Guides: Videomaker: Using the Tool
Suggestions for Evaluating Student Projects Created Using the Tools on the Young American Heroes Web Site

Like all of the tools on the Young American Heroes  website, the VideoMaker tool springs from a constructivist learning philosophy. It encourages and enables student engagement and creation. VideoMaker allows students to select supplied video clips, supplied music clips, supplied still images; to add simple audio or video clips made by users; and to create and save a new video production to tell a story about one of the young heroes on the YAH web site.

VideoMaker is designed to be easy to use at any grade level, easily included in any curriculum, and adaptable to either individual or team use. For online use, the audio and video clips provided in VideoMaker can be assembled, rearranged, and supplemented with short video or audio recordings made online. If a class or group of students wishes to create a video offline using school or personal video equipment and resources, the video and audio clips can be downloaded from the YAH web site and edited into a program along with locally produced resources, and the whole production can then be uploaded to the YAH web site.

For information on how the VideoMaker tool works, see the VideoMaker section on the YAH FAQ page, and/or view short "How-to" videos below that cover the key functions in VideoMaker.
